HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York, flew in from Norwich by helicopter to Hunstanton Golf Club on Friday, 25 June. The Duke, who has been the Club’s patron since the Duke of Edinburgh relinquished the role some years ago, was attending a match with the RAF Golfing Society. This now annual golfing tournament began in 1981 and this year’s event was won by Hunstanton Golf Club.
Prince Andrew has been known to play golf at Hunstanton Golf Club whilst he is resident at Sandringham.
However, during the course of this visit, the Prince met members of the Club’s staff and then joined the RAF Golfing Society for lunch where he presented a certificate to Group Captain Harry Griffiths.
Prince Andrew also met with Air Chief Marshal Sir Patrick Hine. The event was also attended by West Norfolk Mayor, Zipha Christopher and Hunstanton Mayor, Peter Mallam.
