Sunday 22nd August saw a bumper crowd turn out for the 14th Hunstanton Rotary Kite Festival held at Smithdon High School. A gloriously sunny day saw kite flying professionals struggle to carry out their breathtaking displays without the aid of the much needed wind. The classic car exhibition saw a record number of entries as did the classic motorbikes and an extra attraction was the King’s Lynn Scooter Club who turned up en mass and in spectacular style.
“Justso James” entertained the crowd with his unique style and saw the old favourite sack race amongst others. The craft fair in the main hall offered the more unusual gifts and there were stalls galore for local charity organisations offering tombolas etc.
King’s Lynn Hospital Radio provided the PA system with Paul Redhead giving the commentary.
This annual Hunstanton event is organised by the Hunstanton & District Rotary Club and all profits are donated to charitable causes. Hunstanton Rotary Club meets each Wednesday at Le Strange Hotel. Visiting Rotarians, or anybody interested in being involved, are welcome to join us. Ring Attendance Officer Phil on 01485 534157.
